A few years ago, when my grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, my mother naturally became his primary caregiver. Influenced by traditional values, families in China often prefer to keep elderly members at home, cared for by relatives. This focus on the elderly can, however, overshadow the needs of family caregivers. My mother’s experience gave me a firsthand view of the immense physical and emotional stress caregivers endure, inspiring me to find ways to help.

In this project, I conducted detailed primary and secondary research to identify family caregivers' characteristics and core needs. Based on these insights, I designed a home-based caregiving toolkit that provides comprehensive Alzheimer’s care support, incorporating gamified tools to encourage family cooperation and shared caregiving, fostering a warm and supportive environment for family caregivers.
